Greetings all!
Well, as you already read in Ackadia's post we are interested in continuing on with the organization of a Spiral Scouts chapter here in the Jacksonville/NE Florida area. Tallahassee has an active chapter and the Orlando area is also organizing a chapter. Plans are also in the making for a Florida Tribe (that is the joining of sorts of all of the Florida chapters giving Florida national representation with the Spiral Scouts organization) So, progress is being made, our children are learning and growing and all in an established and safe environment.
I know that the national website www.spiralscouts.org has already been posted and as a parent I would encourange anyone with children to check this out! They have worked very hard and continue to do so in order to maintain a structure that will ensure the safety of our children as well as allowing the chapters to have the freedom to tailor programs to our own children's needs and interests. This is an exciting time here in the Jacksonville community! We have so many great leaders that are working hard on Pagan Pride Day in September, the PRIDE festival in October as well as our Phoenix Festivals events, CUUPS events, PixieCUUPS and all of the new networking that is being done on an individual level. I'm very proud to be here!
We are hoping that Spiral Scouts can become a part of this and be an enriching addition to the NE Florida pagan/alternative spiritual community. Our kids deserve to have safe places to go to just be themselves. I'm so proud of PixieCUUPS and it's organizers and look forward to adding Spiral Scouts as an integral part of our community. With all that said, we are going to need VOLUNTEERS!!! Also, the target date for our first meeting will be sometime in August and we'll keep you posted on that. We look forward to planning activities that will edify not only our children's body, souls and minds but ours as well!!!
